The Wisconsin Lottery has begun selling tickets for the 2013 Holly Jolly 50/50 raffle. Tickets went on sale on November 1st and you can buy them at any of the state’s lottery retailers. Each ticket is $5 and there are only 100,000 tickets available for sale. Each play is played on a separate ticket and the lottery urges you to sign the back of your ticket as soon as you purchase it.
Tickets are sold in sequential order starting with 000001 and once 100,000 tickets are sold, no more tickets are for sale and the raffle will close. The prizes, draw date, and prize amounts will not change depending on the number of tickets that are sold. The last day to purchase your tickets for the Hooly Jolly raffle is December 11th, 2013 and the drawing will be held on December 12th, 2013.
There are 1052 prizes available and they will all be drawn on Dec. 12th. The prizes are as follows:
2 – $50,000
50 – $1000
100 – $100
All prizes will be awarded even if all the tickets are not sold. If all the tickets do sell out in a few weeks, the raffle will close, but the drawing date will remain the same.
A 50/50 raffle is called that because usually 50% of the sales of tickets are put into a pool for prizes and 50%. There are exceptions to this as if less tickets are sold than planned. If the lottery somehow only sells 500 tickets, they are bringing in $2500, but paying out $250,000. Of course, this would be rare that this happens as raffles are very popular for the lottery and usually sell out.
Winning numbers will be posted here as soon as they are made available to the public. Check back here after December 12th for the winning numbers.
The winning numbers for the $50,000 prizes are 031079 and 057525.
